
Columbia, MD – Christian Dean had two layups and assisted on three other Dragon baskets in overtime last Wednesday as Howard Community College defeated visiting Garrett College, 88-78.
Dean's layup with 33 seconds remaining created a 70-70 tie to force overtime. He finished with a game-high 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals as Howard ended the Lakers' four-game men's basketball winning streak.
Emanuel Henriques added 20 points and eight rebounds for the Dragons, and teammate Myles McDuffie chipped in with 19 points.
GC reserve Marqui Olds scored a team-high 13 points and Carmello Myles (nine rebounds, four assists) contributed 12. Myles' tip-in with 54 seconds remaining gave the Lakers a 70-68 lead, setting the stage for Dean's game-tying basket.
Antonio Adams and Kam Heathington added 11 each; Gavin Jackson (five rebounds, two steals) was the fifth Laker in double figures with 10 points. K'Shawn Scott scored nine points and Nasir Coleman (six points) had eight rebounds and four assists for the Lakers.
GC – which then dropped a 99-61 contest at Chesapeake College Saturday afternoon – is now 12-5 overall and 6-2 in NJCAA Division II Region 20.

Wye Mills, MD – Shaft Clark scored 19 points and Willie Jones added 18 Saturday afternoon as the Skipjacks rolled past visiting Garrett College.
Gavin Jackson and Kobe Edwards each scored 11 for the Lakers while Keyonta Johnson added 10.
