The Laker cross country teams competed Saturday at Carroll Community College. The humid, warm day in conjunction with the demanding course created a challenge for all the runners. Racing for the first time in several weeks, Ella Warnick posted an impressive fifth place finish breaking up the scoring by the nationally ranked Westmoreland County CC team. Warnick posted a time of 33:23.7 over the 6k course. Westmoreland's Brooke Bertovich won the race in a time of 32:17.6.
The men's 8k race was won by unattached runner, Alexander Kirkland in a time of 28:24.6. Hagerstown's Zane Chalker was the first collegiate runner finishing second at 28:32.8. Garrett's Esdras Castillo finished in 17th place with a time of 43:12.1. Running a 6K for the day was Jeff Geddie who finished at 45:10.7.
The Lakers now have several weeks to prepare for the NJCAA and MDJUCO Region XX championship to be held at Hagerstown CC on Saturday, October 31.
