Parsons nets fourth goal in Harford loss

McHenry, MD – Haili Parsons scored her team-high fourth goal of the season Thursday in the Lady Lakers' 5-1 loss to Harford Community College.

Parsons blew down the left wing and beat Owl goalie Evie Heinlein to the short side with 15:37 left in the first half, cutting Harford's lead to 2-1.

"She definitely brings a different level of explosiveness and pace to the game," GC head coach Brandon Jackson said of Parsons. "She can be a game-changer."

Harford, however, restored its two-goal advantage just 16 seconds later as Summer Mencer scored off a Madison Passwater feed.

"I thought there was going to be a little shift of momentum there after Haili's goal," said Jackson, indicating a defensive lapse helped explain Mencer's goal. "Sometimes we get ball-watching too much."

Ava Lewis had Harford's first two goals, the second off a Skye Dixon assist, and Carly Hemmings scored with just 1:13 remaining in the half as the Owls took a 4-1 lead.

Danielle Marino had the only goal of the second half, off a Lewis assist, to complete the scoring.

Heinlein stopped three of GC's four shots. Lady Laker starting goalkeeper Sara Tabuena made 13 saves on 18 shots, while back-up goalie Madison Kirby stopped all three shots she faced.

Harford (10-2-2 overall, 4-1-1 league) finished with a 23-4 edge in shots, a 21-4 advantage in shots on goal, and an 11-1 lead in corner kicks.

Garrett fell to 1-8-1, 0-6-1.

Garrett 0, Howard 0

McHenry, MD – The Lady Lakers dominated Tuesday's second half with a 15-3 shots advantage, but settled for a scoreless tie with the host Dragons.

Sara Tabuena stopped two shots in goal for Garrett, earning her first solo shutout of the season. Howard goalie Olivia Jackson turned away eight shots on goal while also notching a shutout.

"We were clicking," said GC head coach Brandon Jackson of his squad's second-half offensive thrusts. "Howard had a very good goalkeeper who kept them in the game. It would have been nice to get the 'W', but they battled hard."

Lady Laker Haili Parsons led both teams in shots (nine) and shots on goal (four). GC finished with an 8-5 edge in corners, including 6-0 in the second half.
