Garrett College Laker Cross Country Invitational

The Garrett College cross country teams hosted their second annual cross country invitational on Saturday, September 18 at Northern Garrett High School. Seven schools ranging across divisions from the NJCAA, NCAA and USCAA battled it out on the 6k (women) and 8k (men) courses.

Potomac State won the men's team race with a score of 35, edging Penn Highlands by eight points.

Noah Wollersheim, Thomas Stanford and Joe Ellefson, all from Christendom College swept the top three individual places with Wollersheim finishing first in a time of 29:47. Garrett College's first year runner, Jack Bradley (Northern Garrett HS, MD) finished his first collegiate 8K in a time of 39:49 placing nineteenth overall.

Margaret Kolesar matched her Christendom teammates by cruising to victory in the women's 6K race in a time of 28:43. Westmoreland's Anna Rubino was runner-up in a race that featured no complete women's teams. Garrett's Reillee Beeman (Mountain Ridge HS, MD) clocked a time of 40:15 in her first collegiate 6K.

Coach Dale Luy remarked on the noticeable improvement in race pace for both Bradley and Beeman in this second race of the year. "Now they have both raced the collegiate championship distance, so they have a benchmark to use as comparison for the rest of their careers."

The team next races at the Dickinson College Long Short Meet on Saturday, September 25.
