Coach John Chambers enters his 5th season as assistant coach of the Garrett College baseball team; he is the son of John & Patricia Chambers of Newburg, WV.

Coach Chambers played collegiately at Bluefield State College for Coach Geoff Hunter from 1996-2000.  A four year player and letterman, John was named 1st Team All WVIAC as a utility player in 2000.  He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration with specializations in Management and Marketing.

Prior to Garrett, he coached at his alma mater Preston High School in Kingwood, WV from 2012-2016.  Coach Chambers led the Knights to back-to-back Region 1 Section 3 titles in 2013 & 2014.  In 2014, his team led the state in runs scored and had the first winning season in school history.  His players’ accolades include: 7 all-state selections, 6 Dominion Post All-Area selections, Dominion Post POY, 11 Big 10 Conference selections, Big 10 POY, and 5 of his players have signed to play collegiately at the Division I or Division II level.  Coach Chambers leaves Preston as the winningest baseball coach in school history.

Coach Chambers is also known for giving back to his community.  He was the Originator/Director of the Preston Baseball Camp from 2013-2015, which was a free four night camp for Preston County youth.  He also conducted a free coach’s clinic for the Preston County youth league coaches. In 2014, John had the privilege of being on West Virginia University Head Baseball Coach Randy Mazey’s Summer Camp Staff.  

Coach Chambers is married to his wife Tonya, he has two children, Lily (14) and Jacob (12).
