Lakers outlast Penn State Fayette in non-conference contest

Garrett College used a three run fifth inning and a four run sixth inning to defeat Penn State Fayette 15-6 at the Diamond at the Lake on Wednesday evening. The Lions jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the top of the second. The Lakers countered with six runs of their own to take a 7-5 lead after two innings. The game would remain that way until the fifth inning when Jacob Kennell drew a bases loaded walk and Ty Giblin added a two-run single. In the sixth, Giancarlo Bernardo drew a bases loaded walk and Chance Ritchey added a two-run single. Ritchey finished the day with three hits and three runs batted in. Giblin had two hits along with Colby Schmitz and Tristan Kenzevich. Mayson Jack pitched a shutout fifth to record the win on the mound.

"Pretty sloppy game tonight. We threw the ball around, walked guys and left too many men on the base paths", said Eric Hallenbeck. "We got the win but if we want to go as far as I think we are capable of, we need to be crisp, focused, and play fundamental baseball."
