Garrett College

Head Coach Zach Ward takes over a Garrett College Women's Soccer program venturing into its third season. Coach Zach comes to Garrett College after a 4-year stint with SUNY Delhi, an NCAA D3 North Atlantic Conference member. Ward compiled a 41-23-7 overall mark to go along with 4-straight NAC semi-final conference appearances, 2 NAC championship game appearances ('22/'24), and the program's/university's first NAC team championship and NCAA tournament appearance ('22). 

Coach Ward previously served as the assistant women's soccer coach at Maine Maritime Academy (NCAA D3), where the team triumphed in the 2019 NAC Championship and recorded 31 victories over his three seasons (2017-2019) with the Mariners. Coach Zach was a part of a staff that oversaw two conference players of the year, two defensive players of the year, multiple all-conference selections, and the program's all-time leading goal scorer. In 2019, the team set program records with 13 wins and 11 shutouts.

Ward isn't unfamiliar with Region XX having spent a year as the assistant coach at WVU-Potomac State in 2020-2021.

A Cumberland, MD native, Ward graduated from Fort Hill High School in 2008 and holds a bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Robert Morris University and earned a master's degree in Exercise Science/Physical Education from McDaniel College in 2013. Ward held the position of Athletic Director at Calvary Christian Academy from 2013 to 2017, where he also excelled as the boy's and girl's soccer coach. His boys' teams earned an impressive 54 wins, including back-to-back Mason Dixon Christian Conference titles in 2013 and 2014. The girls' team secured 29 victories and achieved a pair of third-place conference finishes in 2013 and 2014. Calvary's boy's achieved state semifinal appearances in 2013 and 2015.

In addition to his coaching experience, Ward holds a Premier Diploma with United Soccer Coaches and a Level I/II/III Goalkeeping Diploma. He also possesses the United States Soccer Federation D License.
