Community Outreach

The Garrett College Lakers are highly visible throughout the Garrett County, MD community volunteering at various events performing community service. Garrett Laker athletes learn to give back to the community that supports them, and are proud to do so.

At the SavageMan Triathlon Festival, Garrett Laker athletes volunteer by being stationed at road intersections throughout Garrett County and along the bike courses. The event takes place Saturday through Sunday, in which participants swim in Deep Creek Lake, ride the challenging roads of Garrett County, or run on Deep Creek State Park trails and surrounding lakeside roads. Athletes aid in directing biking and running competitors, as well as assist police with traffic control. The SavageMan Triathlon benefits non-profit organizations and attracts a large population of participants and spectators from all over the map.
