Lakers Celebrate Bucknell Scholars

FIRST YEAR BISON

Garrett College alumnus, Liutauras Repsys, is nearing the end of his first year of studies in the field of biology at Bucknell University. Liu was awarded the transfer scholarship to Bucknell following his participation in the BCCS summer program in 2017 and completion of his Associate of Arts – Arts & Sciences (Math/Science concentration) degree at GC in May 2018. Liu's first year at Bucknell has been both a challenging and rewarding experience as he tackled numerous demanding courses along with work as a barista at Bucknell's 7th Street Café. He plans to spend the summer at home in Lithuania and return to Bucknell for his final year this fall where he will begin his new job as a Residential Assistant. Liu was a former Garrett Laker men's basketball player, and was named 2018 Male Scholar - Athlete of the Year.

2019 SUMMER SCHOLAR

Baltimore resident and GC women's basketball team and women's softball team member, Sharatia 'Tia' Jefferson, was recently offered the distinguished opportunity to participate in this summer's Bucknell Community College Scholars Program! In addition to her education, Tia has a passion for working with children and enjoys volunteering at schools in her neighborhood and teaching youth lacrosse. She also enjoys chess and ranked 1st in her age group in the city of Baltimore and 22nd nationally during high school. Tia will attend Bucknell University for six weeks this summer, take two BU courses, reside on campus, and get a taste of what life is like as a Bucknellian.
